In this experiential webinar, Jacquie Compton will explore the intersections of the principles and foundations of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with the practice and principles of Cultural Humility. Exploring practical tools and techniques, participants will deepen their skills of introspection through practices of embodied self-awareness, self-reflection, and presence, by inviting somatic inquiry. The webinar encourages practitioners to engage in an embodied practice of self-reflection and accountability as they examine their personal lived experiences and procedural tendencies in relation to power, privilege, and oppression.

By applying the skills and techniques of SP, this interactive webinar will invite somatic dialogue to attend to the power imbalances that arise within the therapeutic relationship, moving beyond the explicit to uncover and tend to underlying dynamics. The session will include guided practices and experiential exercises designed to help clinicians broaden their approaches to introspection, reflexivity, self-reflection, and connection to resources that enhance attunement and steadiness by bringing the energies of wonder, curiosity, openness and compassion in responding to complexities.

Together, we will explore how to incorporate the body into a self-reflective use of self and offer ways for practitioners to embody the practice of cultural humility, utilizing the skills of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to challenge implicit patterns related to power with loving awareness and care.
