Proposing ways to tap into the wisdom of the body through the application of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy in order to understand and assist clients diagnosed on the autistic spectrum, Dr. Goldstein will present practical insights for mental health professionals and educators.

Introducing body-based tools which propel the session beyond the verbal story in ways that words cannot, this three-hour workshop explores physical actions and body sensations to encourage self-awareness, and resolution of trauma.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy prizes working with the non-verbal narrative, in collaboration with our clients in order to foster mind-body awareness, propel new insights, and help clients feel empowered.

Videoed excerpts of therapy sessions will be presented in order to highlight specific Sensorimotor Psychotherapy interventions such as contacting and framing experience, tracking dysregulation, identifying and embodying somatic resources and co-developing experiments to identify somatic signals, physical actions, body sensations, etc.

For our younger clients diagnosed with autism, sensory-processing-informed treatment focuses on minimizing potential stressors and fostering self-regulatory skills over time in order to enhance wellbeing.
